Latin American Study Group, Training and Action on Sexuality, Gender and Culture (GLEF) and the Interdisciplinary Institute of Gender Studies (IIEGE), Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires, have decided to hold a colloquium of Latin American feminist thinkers and activists interested in a reflection on the production of feminist critical thought in Latin America.
Among the main concerns of this meeting is to reflect on the future of feminism in the region, the separation between theory and practice and the prevalence of a pragmatic reason for over a reflective political explore their own limits and emancipatory potential.
The event is planned as a panel discussion and feedback among thinkers / activists especially invited and / or the public participant. Among the objectives that reflect together on the production of feminist critical thought in Latin America and the construction of frameworks of interpretation and views on the non-hegemonic regional and global context.
is expected as a result of this activity as an articulation of thinkers / Latin American feminist activists with a mission statement and a detailed plan of actions to strengthen and disseminate critical thinking feminist committed to the task today. It also provides for publication of papers presented and discussions generated.
The proposed themes for this first symposium are:
1. Thinking about practice, make the dream
• the current state of motion
· the conceptual and the stakes of feminist politics in Latin America
· Reasons instrumental and bureaucracy in contemporary feminist chores
· the feminist political projects and social projects
2. Towards one's own thought
• the production of Latin American feminist thought and its conditions of possibility
· the contents of the production
· the basis for a production of feminist thought in Latin America
• the commitment of feminist theory and praxis
3. Passion
• the political and feminist political practice of freedom and construction of new meanings in the world
• the relationship between politics and art of existence
· the subject of feminism and political projects
